Remedial Massage & Dry Needling

Superior results can be achieved by augmenting remedial massage with dry needling & myo fascial work. Using super fine acupuncture needles, dry needling targets the trigger points in the belly of the muscle and releases those points, allowing the muscle to start refunctioning effectively i.e. flex and extend as opposed to remaining in a state of spasm.  The application is 90% painless, compared to the manual application of pressure to a trigger point trying to achieve the same result. The application of acupuncture needles activates the release of the body’s natural opiates; serotonin & B-Endorphins and increased levels of immunoglobulin & antibodies enhance immunity.

Holistic Kinesiology

Do you feel like you are stuck? Want to change some aspect of your life or have ongoing, unresolved pain in your body? Kinesiology is a gentle, non-invasive and extremely affective modality which allows the practitioner to locate the exact area of stress, whether it is physical or structural, biochemical or emotional. Issues may be resolved by applying the priority correction.

Applied Kinesiology - Neuro organisation Technique – specialising in structural re balancing

This practice focuses primarily on the physical body and its functions which are organised into a network of primary survival systems and sub systems.  The primary survival systems are; feeding, flight/fight, reproduction and immune systems.  Each of these systems has specific pre programmed functions which control everyday activities.  The systems function as an integrated network to ensure a synchronised expression of our life force.  These systems are responsive to genetic, environmental, & physiological factors; physical and emotional trauma, changes in environmental & other factors such as diet, toxins, & chemicals, which can effect or alter the automatic innate functions of these networks.  Each system affects and is affected by every other system.  Disorganisation in one system can & will affect some other part of the network.  N.O.T delivers a multitude of protocols to re balance each system in relation to the other to ensure the continued best function of the body; a self healing, self regulating, self perpetuating organism.

Lymphatic Drainage

Lymphatic Drainage Therapy is a gentle technique used to reduce oedema or swelling in the body.  It is a specialised procedure which should be done by a qualified practitioner who understands the directional flow of lymph within the body.  The lymphatic system is often overlooked in its importance.  It is the system which has a vital role in fighting disease; initiating an immune response to pathogens (bugs!), and filters toxins and bacteria.

  • Benefits reduced swelling for those suffering from lymphodema. Reduces oedema which can occur with the removal of lymph nodes, due to mastectomy or lumpectomy.  Soothes and calms the central nervous system.

Neurostructural Integration Technique (NST). The technique initiates a process of natural auto-regulation to occur in the spinal column and consequently throughout the whole body.  The effect is a rapid elimination or reduction of symptoms, followed by an increase in energy and an unmistakable sense of well-being.  The technique is gentle yet dynamic and as it promotes natural auto-regulation it can be applied to an extensive range of conditions, for new-borns through to the elderly.

Conditions which respond well to NST:

Spinal conditions - Cranial conditions - Headaches including migraines - Neck conditions including whiplash - Back conditions including pelvic, lumbar and thoracic - Shoulder, Elbow, wrist and hand conditions - Keg, knee, ankle and foot conditions - Asthma and other respiratory conditions - Arthritis and joint conditions - Menstrual, fertility and menopausal conditions - Accident injuries - Sporting injuries - Acute and chronic fatigue - stress conditions and emotional depression.

Whilst substantial relief is experienced after the first session, long term resolution is generally attained after the second or third session.  Certain chronic or degenerative conditions may benefit from further or ongoing treatment

With a focus on pain management an assessment is conducted & the appropriate course of treatment is decided upon.  Initial treatment may start with a remedial massage, & continue with kinesiology or NST.

What Jo's clients say:

Jo Callender is quite simply the best, most intuitive massage therapist I have ever had.  She has magic hands going to THAT spot instinctively and applying just the right pressure.  No more lying there frustrated thinking – just a bit to the left! Try her and you will see! G. Watson

The work we have done together has helped me to understand how my history, life situation, &n self beliefs can work to undermine my physical well being.  You have enabled me to unlock and reprogram some of these core beliefs.  Jo I have really appreciated your insights, sensitivity & skills as a healer & hope that many others will benefit from your expertise. S. Drayton
