Learn to safely lengthen and extend your spine and open your chest in this fantastic Spring Backbends Workshop with Jo. Get your body strong and fit for Summer while opening your heart to the energy of the new season!
Backbend poses create space between the vertebrae of the spinal column. Backbends help with postural imbalances such as rounded back and shoulders, they stimulate the functioning of the digestive organs and they have a powerful postive effect on the quality of the mind. As well as relieving tension stored in the muscles, and boosting the immune system, backbends have been found to alleviate depression and anxiety.
This afternoon workshop will start with preparation poses, strengthening the core, facilitating movement in the shoulders, and stretching out the legs to bring your body into a state of readiness for challenging backbends including the full Urdhva Dhanurasana. With Jo's careful guidance you will be amazed at what you can achieve and you will leave feeling awakened and powerful.
Some yoga experience is recommended for this workshop, although the afternoon will be structured to safely accommodate students of all levels.
