Yolande is a senior Ki (Japanese) trained yoga teacher with a strong traditional Hatha Yoga background. Her teaching style will deepen your understanding of the energetic and physiological benefits of each yoga asana with attention to the play of the mind as we engage in the practice of yoga. Yolande is also a Doula (birth-coach) and Prenatal Yoga specialist.
Michela has been practising yoga for more than 8 years. After graduating from University in Italy, Michela moved to Australia. Leaving behind her work in international organizations Michela completed Advanced Teaching Training in the Krishnamacharya tradition at the Yoga Institute, NSW. Michela has a passion for, and extended training in Pranayama (breathwork) and Yoga Therapy, teaching both in Australia and in Europe. Michela focuses her teaching on an integral and safe approach to yoga, designing a practice that nourishes and extends her students to meet each of her student's specific needs.
Rosie Caunt - Tuesdays 10.30am Rosie is a senior yoga teacher working as a yoga therapist, mentor, and teacher trainer at the Yoga Institute Cammeray. Her lineage is the yoga of Krishnamacharya, using the ancient tool of yoga; movement, breath, chanting, intention, and the back ground of the yoga sutras. Rosie encourages each student in the class to work at their own level, pace, and ability, in order to develop, grow and heal themselves. Rosie's classes are designed to support students to look at how they really feel and to practice yoga from that place in order to improve their lives and their relationships.
Jo Longhurst is a tradotionally trained Iyengar Yoga teacher with a passion for the practice of yoga in general and for Iyengar Yoga in particular. Iyengar Yoga classes emphasize precision and alignment, enabling correct positioning of the skeletal and organic body and the proper functioning of the breath. It improves understanding and concentration. Iyengar Yoga offers a balance of dynamic and strengthening postures, passive and restorative ones, breathing and relaxation, working in a monthly cycle.
In Jo's classes the postures are often held for longer periods to improve awareness and increase stamina. We use props regularly to help get a better understanding of the poses.
Jo loves for her students to "get an understanding" of yoga while at the same time addressing their individual needs eg reducing stress, learning to breathe and relax, toning the muscles, learning about their own bodies inside and out and for this understanding to positively impact their everyday lives.
Jenny Tuck - Saturdays 9.30am Jenny comes from a background as a dancer. Always interested in Yoga and Pilates she has trained in both Ryoho (Japanese) and Hatha (Indian) Yoga traditions. Jenny's Saturday morning classes are a blend of Yoga/Pilates with an emphasis on core strength, flexibility and balance. In her Hatha classes Jenny's focus is on the union of body, mind and breath.
Stephanie began practising and studying Buddism and vipassana meditation in the '90s, during intensive retreats in ashram's and temples through Thailand and India.
Anne Procee - Tuesdays 9.30am Anne started her yoga study with Satyananda tradition at 16years old. In '92 Anne completed her Yoga Teaching qualification with Eve Grzybowski, at the Sydney Yoga Centre with a strong influence in the Iyengar Tradition but Ashtanga Vinyasa quickly became Anne's practice and her passion. Anne continues her study with the teachings and lineage of Krishnamacharya. Anne teaches with compassion and respect for the individual, making the class challenging but assessable to all. Her teaching method connects breath and core support (bandhas) in movement, with anatomical backing. Georgia-Kate Schubert - Tuesday 7.30pm Georgia-Kate (GK) set off on her yoga path thanks to the benefits she noticed in herself - physically and mentally - after practising yoga just once a week for about six months. GK focusses on linking physical movement and breathing, and supporting students to find what works for their body and mind at a particular moment in time. Once an ashtanga-only practitioner, GKnow enjoys and teaches many styles from her beloved ashtanga vinyasa to hatha and also restorative. There's something in yoga for everyone. See our timetable.
